CHOCOLATE DONUTS

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • ¼ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • ¼ teaspoon baking soda
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 1 large egg, room temperature
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • ⅓ cup whole or low-fat milk, room temperature
  • ¼ cup full fat sour cream, room temperature
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract (or peppermint, if preferred)

MINT MELTAWAY GLAZE

  • ½ cup Fannie May® Mint Meltaways®, plus more to garnish
  • 2 tablespoons heavy cream
  • 1½ tablespoons unsalted butter

Directions

  • Preheat oven to 350ºF. Grease donut tin with butter or nonstick spray and set aside.
  • In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda and salt. Set aside.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the sugar and egg until thoroughly combined. Add the sour cream, milk, melted butter and vanilla extract. Mix again until combined.
  • Pour wet ingredients into the bowl of dry ingredients. Mix until there are no more flour pockets. Transfer batterto prepared donut tins, filling each cavity until three-quarters full. You can use a piping bag or spoon to transfer the batter.
  • Bake the donuts for 8 to 10 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into one comes out with little to no crumbs. Let the donut cool for a couple minutes in the pan before removing them to a wire rack to cool completely.
  • For the glaze, place Fannie May® Mint Meltaways®, heavy cream and butter into a microwave safe bowl. Heat on 50% power level in the microwave for 90 seconds, stopping halfway to stir. Let the mixture sit for a couple minutes, then stir until smooth.
  • Dip the top of each donut in the melted chocolate and return the donut to the wire cooling rack. Garnish with chopped Fannie May® Mint Meltaways® and serve.
